Introducing AutoClear

We are excited to introduce AutoClear, a new feature which automatically detects and releases copyright claims on YouTube videos within minutes of them occurring. 

Which tracks are included?

AutoClear is already available for many of Music Vine's most popular tracks and artists. We're working on making AutoClear available for as much of the Music Vine catalog as possible. 

Simply look for the circular tick icon when browsing to see which tracks are available with AutoClear.

How does AutoClear work? 

For supported tracks, our AutoClear system offers two solutions (see below) to automatically detect and release copyright claims on public YouTube videos. This means that copyright claims will initially occur but should be released within 15 minutes of a video going public (claims will remain present while a video is scheduled or set to private).  

AutoClear Channel Whitelist

If you publish content on your own channel, or have a regular client with a YouTube channel, the simplest option is to use our AutoClear Whitelist feature.

Simply log-in to your account, navigate to your Account settings page and click the 'AutoClear Channel Whitelist' heading. Here you can set the YouTube channel you'd like to whitelist.

From the date that your whitelist has been applied, copyright claims will be automatically detected and released for new content published, usually within 15 minutes of occurring. You don't need to do anything else for this to happen.

Note: you need to have made at least one purchase on Music Vine to use AutoClear Whitelist.

AutoClear for specific videos

If you work with numerous clients who publish content to their own YouTube channels, using an AutoClear Code will be more suitable.

The AutoClear code can simply be included in the description of the YouTube video (it's important to do this before the video is published) and copyright claims will then be automatically released, usually within 15 minutes of occurring. 

Note that AutoClear codes are unique to each track license, and a single code works only for a single video.

Subscription customers can get AutoClear Codes by clicking the 'Generate AutoClear Code' button that is presented after licensing supported tracks. 

For Pay-Per-Use licenses, AutoClear Codes can be generated by clicking the icon available in the order summary.

You can also access AutoClear codes from your license history at any time. 

What about tracks where AutoClear is not available?

Tracks not available with AutoClear are not yet under our management with the YouTube fingerprinting system. For some tracks, this means that claims won't occur at all and, for others, claims will sometimes occur on behalf of the artist or record label.

If you receive a copyright claim (for a track where AutoClear is not available), disputing the claim via YouTube and referencing your Music Vine license should resolve the claim. Our support team are on-hand to help if you happen to experience any issues with copyright claims. 

We are working to make AutoClear available for as much of the Music Vine catalog as possible.

Why do claims occur in the first place?

Copyright claims are normal when using most music on YouTube- they provide a means for artists to protect their tracks from illegitimate use.

In addition, if tracks are not registered with YouTube's fingerprinting system, they become vulnerable to ownership fraud (i.e someone fraudulently registering the track as their own with YouTube's system to take earnings from claims).

However, YouTube's system and dispute process is often not ideal for content creators.

Our new AutoClear feature is designed to provide a better solution for everyone, removing the concern of claims for our customers, while ensuring our artists' music has necessary protection from fraud & illegitimate use.
